Where AI is used in Mekat
Mekat teaches people to use AI well, from how it works to checking its answers, protecting private information and building workflows. The lessons, examples, quizzes and Scout’s lesson lines are written by us and bundled in the app. They are not generated live by AI.
The live AI features are optional feedback on some writing exercises and Ask Scout, an optional AI coach chat for learners during a free trial or with Mekat Premium. Answer checks, streaks, reviews and Model match run in the app without sending your answers to an AI model. The practice example on mekat.ai is prepared text in your browser; the website does not call an AI model.
Optional AI feedback
AI feedback is off until you allow it in Privacy & legal → Online AI feedback. When you ask for it, your answer and the exercise instructions go through Mekat’s service to OpenAI for a short suggestion. Your account ID is not sent to OpenAI. Agreeing to the terms or turning on analytics does not turn on AI feedback.
You can withdraw permission at any time; Mekat keeps working without it. Usage limits keep the service fair and affordable. If feedback is unavailable or fails, your answer is kept and it is never marked wrong because of the failure.
Please use made-up details. Passwords, codes, payment details, private records and other people’s confidential information do not belong in a practice answer. The Privacy Policy explains what OpenAI and Mekat keep and for how long.
Ask Scout coach chat
Ask Scout is an AI coach chat inside the app. Scout can explain a lesson or an AI concept, help you improve a prompt, check an AI answer, help you choose a tool and answer privacy and safety questions. It is only for learning about and using AI, and it can make mistakes.
Ask Scout is available during a free trial or with a Mekat Premium membership, and it is off until you allow it in the app. This is a separate permission from Online AI feedback. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Optional AI-processing permission; withdrawing stops future messages but cannot recall a message already sent. You can send up to 30 messages a day, counted on a UTC day.
Your message, the last few turns of the same conversation and, inside a lesson, the lesson context go through Mekat’s service to OpenAI. Your account ID, email address, name and device identifiers are not sent. Conversations stay on your iPhone; our servers keep only message counts, your permission record and logs without message text. If a reply looks harmful, wrong or inappropriate, tap Report this reply: only that reply, the message it answered, your reason and note, and your app and iOS version are stored with your account ID and emailed to our support team for review, without your email address. Please use made-up details and never share passwords, payment details, private records or other people’s confidential information in the chat.
Keep your own judgment
AI can produce confident mistakes, biased suggestions or made-up sources, and AI feedback and Ask Scout can be wrong too. They are suggestions, not proof that you mastered a skill. Check important statements against reliable sources and involve a qualified person when a decision affects health, money, rights, work or safety.
Model match is an educational shortlist based on the answers you pick in that session. It is not a live benchmark or an endorsement. AI providers set their own prices, minimum ages and terms.
